Dropping the news of postponement of the Zimbabwe tour to Australia for an indefinite time, the board of Cricket Association of Australia and Zimbabwe, called it a step taken to ensure the safety of the players, who will be more exposed to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the global count of COVID-19 victims are increasing by every passing day, Interim Cricket Australia CEO, Nick Hockley, in the official statement said, “‘While we are disappointed to postpone the series, CA and ZC agree that in the best interest of players, match officials, volunteers as well as our fans, that this is the most practical and sensible decision. We are committed to working with Zimbabwe Cricket on alternative dates to reschedule” without announcing the new dates of the tour.
The ODI series between Australia and Zimbabwe was scheduled to be played on the 9, 12 and 15 August and now becomes the latest series that suffered the postponement in the wake of Coronavirus.
Zimbabwe's tour to Australia, which was scheduled to take place in August, has been postponed.
