Who doesn’t love those fluffy, steamed idlis especially when served with hot sambar and coconut chutney? But what about the leftover idli pieces? Suddenly it loses its charm and becomes bland for our taste buds.
So, here we are again as your saviour, bringing a line up of recipes that you can make out of leftover idlis.
Read here what to do with those extra idlis and restore its flavour meanwhile having a healthy snack:
1. Masala Idli:
A quick and easy recipe that is loved by everyone. All you need to do is fry some chopped vegetables in oil, add chilli, turmeric, cumin powder and then add cut pieces of idlis. You can also add pav bhaji masala into it to make it more flavourful.
2. Idli Pasta:
Idli pasta sounds weird but is a tastier and healthier alternative to your regular pasta. Make your favourite pasta sauce, add fried vegetables to it and instead of adding boiled macaroni or spaghetti, add the leftover idlis cut in small pieces and enjoy your bowl of pasta.
3. Idli Upma:
An easy and good way to use the leftover idlis by making idli upma. Prepare the masala of upma with chopped onion, cumin, mustard seeds, curry leaves, ginger and asafoetida and instead of using semolina or rawa, add crumbled idli. Saute it for a few minutes and your idli upma is ready.
4. Idli Manchurian:
Give your extra idlis a Chinese twist. Prepare the Manchurian sauce the same way you make it for the veg dumplings and add idlis to it. Toss the idlis in the sauce and add water if you want gravy. The best thing is that you don’t need any accompaniment with it.
