Just how we take care of our face and hands, our intimate areas also need attention. In fact, more than that, not maintaining feminine hygiene can lead to many deadly diseases, especially during the menstrual time.
Practising menstrual hygiene promotes the well-being of a woman which we should never overlook.
So, on this Menstrual Hygiene Day, let’s not shy away from the word ‘Period’ and embrace healthy practice to stay fit.
Adopt these healthy habits, next time when you’re on your period to stay safe:
1. Wash Your Intimate Area:
Always take care of your intimate areas. They are a part of your body and you shouldn’t ignore it. During the menstruation, wash your genitalia at least twice a day to ensure no fungal or bacterial infection happens. Also, while washing, always go from the vaginal area to backwards to ensure no bacteria come in contact with your vaginal surface.
2. Change The Sanitary Pads Frequently:
No matter what’s your blood flow, do change the sanitary napkin after every four hours. Using the same pad for a longer period of time can cause rashes and irritation or even worse. If you use tampons, do change it within eight hours. Also, while disposing the napkin or tampon, take utmost care. The last thing you would be needing is polluting your neighbourhood and making everyone prone to disease.
3. Keep Yourself Clean:
Menstrual pain does not mean, you should just stay in your bed. Try doing some light yoga and avoid any leg or back exercises. Take a warm water shower and keep yourself clean. Use clean towels to dry yourself and always wear light cotton innerwear which are fresh and sanitized to stay safe.
4. Have A Proper Diet:
Don’t ignore your diet! Your body is already weak during the menstruation days. Stay away from junk food and snacking and take a balanced and nutritious diet. Do this even during the regular days to keep yourself healthy and fit.
