The British Grand Prix at Silverstone witnessed something one has never seen, an extraordinary climax in the final lap that resulted in Lewis Hamilton lifting the cup despite completing the race with a punctured tire.
Mercedes driver, Hamilton had the most unforgettable race with a record extending seven wins in his home race. With a barely believable finish, along with him, his team’s driver Valtteri Bottas also punctured his tire two laps before the final which allowed Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to take second position at Silverstone.
Hamilton’s win was preceded by a well-organised anti-racism gesture where along with fellow Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton took a knee on the race track. A dramatic end to the British Grand Prix, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished the race in third position.
