The uncertainty over the conduction of this year’s Indian Premier League has been looming since the outbreak of COVID-19. Clearing the air, the Governing Council of IPL, after discussing the issues concerning the VIVO IPL 2020 via video conference, decided to stage the tournament in the United Arab Emirates. The matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi post getting the necessary clearances from the Government of India.
According to the new schedule released by the IPL Organizers, the 53-day tournament will witness 10-afternoon matches starting at 15:30 IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST.from 19 September to 10 November 2020.
The Women’s T20 Challenge will also take place in the UAE and will comprise three teams with four matches to be played during IPL Playoff week.
Apart from releasing the new schedule, the Governing Council also discussed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including the agencies to execute and deliver a bio-secure environment for safe and successful conduct of IPL 2020 Season and reviewed the replacements of the players who won’t be participating in the matches.
