The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Honorary Secretary Jay Shah has announced that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 Season is suspended till further notice. Due to the health concerns related to coronavirus and the lockdown measures taken by the Government of India to stop the pandemic, the governing council took this step.
Keeping health and safety of all the sportsperson, staff and everyone involved in this game as the top priority, BCCI along with the franchise owners, broadcaster, sponsors and all the stakeholders made this sound decision. Now, the IPL 2020 season will only commence when it is safe and appropriate to do so.
Until any action is taken, BCCI will continue to monitor and review the situation regarding a potential start date along with all of its stakeholders. Also, the committee will work under the guidance of the Government of India, State Governments and other State Regulatory bodies.
