Today is the first death anniversary of the prominent face of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Arun Jaitley. The former Minister of Corporate Affairs bid adieu to the world at the age of 66, last year after reporting of breathlessness, followed by the news of him being on life support.
The Padma Vibhushan awardee was known for his contribution in turning the, previously known, Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium into a modern facility, increasing its seating capacity and building better provisions for players during his tenure as DDCA President. Acknowledging his work, The DDCA had announced on 27 August that the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground would be renamed as Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Today on his demise day, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has shared his speech from the condolence meet in remembrance of Arun Jaitley and wrote, “On this day, last year, we lost Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. I miss my friend a lot.
Arun Ji diligently served India. His wit, intellect, legal acumen and warm personality were legendary.
Here is what I had said during a prayer meeting in his memory.”
