Indian skipper Virat Kohli is honoured with the ‘Virat Kohli Pavilion’ in the newly renamed ‘Arun Jaitley Stadium’. The Indian skipper shared pictures from the event on his Instagram to thank Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), and BCCI, writing, “Thank you @ddcacricketofficial and @indiancricketteam for bestowing this honour upon me. The pavilion will remind me of my journey in life and in cricket but most importantly I hope it will serve as an inspiration for the next generation of young cricketers of our nation.”
Along with it, in memory of the former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who was closely associated with the DDCA, Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium has been renamed as the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The rechristening of the stadium was done by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, DDCA President Rajat Sharma, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and by Jaitley’s family at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Also, the entire Indian team and actress Anushka Sharma were present when Kohli was honoured for his contribution to the game.
