Exam time is the most stressful and crucial period of a student’s life. The wisest parent is the one who keeps realistic expectations from the child rather making comparisons with other children, which will only lead them to demotivation and self-doubt. Remember to tell them that it’s okay and that there is much more to life. Students always need a source of motivation and that source is always their parents. So, what must you do to keep this exam-time stress-free, healthy and motivational for your kid? Read along.
1. Physical and mental health is of prime importance
During exams students often skip regular meals and indulge in junk food. While mentally they get exhausted, so make sure your child is eating light but a balanced diet. Make them fruits which will provide enough nutrients to get them going.
2. Encourage them to take regular breaks
Pressurizing the mind to study straight for 5-6 hours during exams can take a toll on your child’s health as that is not what they do every day. Let them watch some tv or listen to some music or play some game so they can get back with a fresh mind.
3. Help them create a study schedule
Let them make their own time table while you assist them and guide them. And make sure the schedule has regular intervals and breaks. Your child knows his study patter for himself, so once the schedule is made to encourage them to follow it.
4. Be a support system and keep calm
It is evitable that you start panicking and get nervous during your child’s exam and make them anxious too. Take a deep breath and let them relax and prepare them to confront the horrors of final exams with ease.
5. Don’t panic them with outside pressure
Often during exams friends and relatives pour down their advices to your child which might lead to anxiety. Make sure they are away from all these outside pressures because not every child is the same, what worked for one may not work for another. Trust their capabilities.
