Every day we are trying to change the notion of gender in the world and there’s a milestone to achieve. In a world where both men and women are going side by side, certain chores are still considered purely a women’s job, like bringing up a kid. We all know it’s an equal responsibility of both parents to raise a kid and the world needs to accept it, ruling out the patriarchal approach to it.
In order to blur this line of biasing and to promote equal rights, Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore, received huge applause for the installation of diaper changing station in the men’s washroom. This move by the Airport Authorities was brought in the notice by a Maldivian passenger, Ali Samhaan, who captured and shared it on his social media handle.
With a thumbs-up, Ali posted, “Saw this in Bangalore International airport men’s room.” which met criticism as people thought he was being sarcastic, to which the Maldivian passenger politely replied that it was an appreciation post.

Soon the post went viral and Bangalore International Airport Authority replied to the news with an awesome tweet breaking the gender stereotyping, “We’ve received a big thumbs up for the diaper-changing station at both male and female restrooms at the #BLRairport. In a world where mums and dads share the responsibility of raising children, we believe that this is a must-have!

While the Airport Authority is trying to provide its women passengers with ultimate comfort and has installed the toddler’s seat in the women’s washroom of the airport for a hassle-free experience, the groundbreaking move of the airport gets nullified as we can again see a stereotypical move.
Along with the picture, the twitter post of Bangalore International Airport reads, “In our quest to make your travel experience better and hassle-free, #BLRairport, for the first time in India, introduces to you the ‘toddler seat’, available in women’s washrooms at the BLR Airport!”.

While the Bangalore Airport is definitely trying to break certain norms of society, it still has a long way to go!
