‘A Little Late with Lilly Singh’, the first late night show hosted by a woman aired on Monday night. Host and rapper Lilly Singh kickstarted the first episode of her show with Mindy Kaling and Rainn Wilson and was seen in a candid mood while playing various games on the set with the guests along with the general talks.
Before the show aired, a pre recorded video was broadcasted where the rapper was seen in her full glory talking about herself and the show. A colourful video where Lilly looks like a total badass making her way into a conference room full of white men. Later she is seen standing on the centre table and announcing “Hello my name is Lilly and I’m no white men” while kicking out a white man from the conference table, making a really bold approach in introducing her show.
As the rap continues, it shows Lilly taking up the space with famous talk show host Jimmy Fallon, while standing out in the league, as she shares her screen space with other coloured women. The video also tries to normalise the issue of breastfeeding, by showing Lilly Singh sitting around young mothers who are feeding their infants. The video highlights all the views that are credited “wrong” by the US President Trump, while screaming out the message of “Your Body Your Choice”.
Along with the video, the official account of Lilly also reads, “There is no other way I would want to introduce my new show to the world than this rap anthem cold open. I hope this does a good job in explaining to you the type of host I strive to be. Written by me, with love. Let the ride begin 💪🏽❤️”.
Replacing the Carson Daly’s show ‘Last Call With Carson Daly’, ‘A Little Late With Lilly Singh’ already created a huge buzz in the industry. Also, this is the first show to be hosted by a coloured bisexual girl of Indian origin. Lilly has also been featured in the October issue of Marie Claire US where the magazine is celebrating its 25 years run in the US market with 25 women faces who have set the world on fire with their extraordinary work.
