The ground-breaking revolutionary transportation concept which involves travelling in pods inside a vacuum tube with a speed of over 1000km/hr, Virgin Hyperloop has tested its first journey with passengers inside it.
The test was conducted in the desert of Las Vegas, Nevada where Josh Giegel, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, and Sara Luchian, Director of Passenger Experience, were the first people in the world to ride on this new form of transportation.
The occupants made their maiden voyage on the XP-2 vehicle, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and Kilo Design, which was custom-built with occupant safety and comfort in mind.
The actual production vehicle is touted to carry 28 passengers and the two-seater XP-2 vehicle was built to demonstrate that passengers can safely travel in a hyperloop vehicle.
The new transportation concept is set to connect Mumbai and Pune in just 25 minutes and establish a 12 minute connection between Dubai and Abu Dhabi which takes more than an hour usually.
On the successful testing of Hyperloop, Sir Richard Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group stated: “With today’s successful test, we have shown that this spirit of innovation will in fact change the way people everywhere live, work, and travel in the years to come.”
