Honorable President of India Ram Nath Kovind conferred the National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for the year 2018-19 from Rashtrapati Bhawan via a virtual ceremony which was also attended by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The NSS Award for the year 2018-19 was presented to 42 awardees in three different categories; University, NSS Units and their Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers from all across the nation out of which 14 female names were in the list, who received extra applause from the President for their service and bravery.

In the virtual event, President Kovind also took pride in the youngsters of India and how the Central Sector Scheme which was launched in the year 1969 has about 40 lakh volunteers over the country, working on issues related to literacy, welfare, relief and rescue programs and more through regular and special camping.
