Abhishek Kapoor directorial, Kedarnath is all set to go on the floors and the movie maniacs are eagerly waiting for the moment when they will get to watch one of the most hyped movies of the year. The reasons for its popularity are many, but Sara Ali Khan’s most awaited debut and the incredible trailer has garnered a lot of fan following the movie needed.
The love story of Mansoor (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Mukku (Sara) is set in a background of the massive Uttarakhand floods that devastated the abode of god and the Kedarnath valley in the year 2013. Due to a scuffle between Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment, the former co-producer of the film, and Abhishek Kapoor overpayment issues, the film faced several delays, thereby losing many a lucrative release slots. Mansoor is a Muslim porter who carries devotes on his back and on horses to the Kedarnath temple, while Mukku is a lively girl who belongs to a wealthy Hindu family and eventually falls in love with Mansoor. The chemistry between the two is phenomenal and can be seen in the trailer and the soulful and heart-touching songs.
Co-produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Pragya Kapoor and Abhishek Nayyar, Kedarnath was stuck in a controversy when one of the BJP members claimed that the film is promoting ‘love-jihad’, because of its Hindu-Muslim marriage concept, and demanded a ban on the movie. Several others were even against the love-jihad concept in the name of natural calamity. While all these controversies hovered upon the film release, the board passed the movie and it is finally releasing on 7th of December.

As the film is nearing its release dates, the promotion is in full swing right from its trailer launch held in Mumbai on November 12 where Sara praised her co-star saying, ‘Sushant was one of the most helpful persons ever. He was also hands-on. He taught me Hindi. I learnt a little bit of acting from him too.’

Director Abhishek shared the difficulties while doing the film saying, ‘it is only because of God that every difficulty was solved. Uttarakhand faced the biggest calamity in 2013. And the way the people of this state worked towards coming out of it, is remarkable. There were many stories from this calamity. It was a different India. I wanted to tell a story from here. With my story, I hope the society is moved.’’
Soon after the trailer launch, the duo set off on various reality TV shows in order to promote the film. Sushant and Sara shook a leg with Salman Khan on the sets of Big Boss 12 where they were a part of the week’s Weekend Ka Vaar episode promoting Kedarnath ahead of its release. The stars even got in the house and had a fun-filled interaction with the contestants.
Mansoor and Mukku donned a dapper desi avatar and graced the stage of Indian Idol and spoke about the film. Sushant and Sara did thumkas with the contestants of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Sushant Singh was absent from most of the promotional event due to work commitment but Saif Ali Khan’s daughter did not miss any opportunity to promote her first film excitedly. The star kid is stealing all the limelight with her choice of fashion and is giving major goals to the millennials.
