In Kerala, at the border of Palakkad and Malappuram, a pregnant elephant died at the banks of the river Velliyar. She was fed a pineapple stuffed with firecrackers by a local that blasted in her mouth and stomach. The elephant went around the village for water without harming any human or damaging any human settlement. Finally, she reached the edge of the river bank and died.
Expressing shock and condemning this inhuman treatment meted out to the pregnant elephant in Kerala, Bollywood stars took it to social media platforms and demanded stricter laws against animal cruelty.
Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan shared a long post on Instagram alongside a heartfelt image. Highlighting the conversation between the mother elephant and her baby, the artwork shows the elephant with a baby inside her womb.
Calling the violent act against the elephant cruel beyond measure, the actors have urged the authorities to catch the guilty and punish them to bring justice for the heinous crime. Also, they have asked people to sign a petition for the enforcement of stricter laws for the wildlife.
