BCCI has made few major announcements ahead of India’s tour to Australia, beginning on 27 November.
The cricket board has granted paternity leave to the Indian skipper Virat Kohli for the birth of his first child, returning to India after the conclusion of the first Test in Adelaide. Apart from this, Rohit Sharma has been rested from the T20Is and ODIs due to fitness concerns but he will be a part of the Test squad.
Coming to the bowling unit, Ishant Sharma’s fitness is being monitored as he is undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Varun Chakravarthy, who was part of the T20I squad has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury and has been replaced by Thangarasu Natarajan.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has been added to the ODI squad and a call on Wriddhiman Saha’s availability for the Australia Tests will be taken later as he has injured both his hamstrings. One of the reserve players, young pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been omitted from the team as he’ll be working with the medical team on his bowling workload management.
