On December 27, the promo for Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, starring Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, and Rajkummar Rao, was out and made ruffles with its #LetLoveBe tagline. Set to release on February 1, 2019, this film is the opening of its kind because it perceptively features unexpected love on the conventional Bollywood stage with a draft is written by Gazal Dhaliwal, a transwoman.
Dhaliwal, the screenwriter of the film, has a recognized career writing dialogues for well-known movies like Wazir, Lipstick Under My Burkha and now, she’s back with another revolutionary narrative on unexpected love that is backed by industry gems like Sonam Kapoor, who is known for supporting vital stories like Neerja, Veere Di Wedding, and Padman.
Now, as a say for the LBGTQ+ commune, Dhaliwal has crafted a striking passionate narrative anchoring on the love life of a perplexing woman, Sweety, played by Sonam Kapoor, who clings to a strongly guarded secret about her sexuality while she is being wooed into marriage with a man by her family.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga will hit the theatres on February 1, 2019.
