2018 has been a noteworthy year for the LGBTQ+ society, with some foremost ups and downs. Between the Supreme Court eliminating Section 377 and the Lok Sabha passing the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill 2016, perplexing narratives came to the vanguard of discussion that cheerfully celebrated queer love and sternly supported rights for the queer commune. The year seems to a close, but it looks like we’re not made yet.
On December 27, the promo for Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, starring Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, and Rajkummar Rao, was out and made ruffles with its #LetLoveBe tagline. Set to release on February 1, 2019, this film is the opening of its kind because it perceptively features unexpected love on the conventional Bollywood stage with a draft is written by Gazal Dhaliwal, a transwoman.
