Surrogacy has finally gained recognition and acceptance. Having babies through surrogacy has become a common thing in India. People have started to opt for alternative means, such as adoption, sperm donation, egg donation and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF). India opened up to commercial surrogacy in 2002. With the help of surrogacy, many celebrities have been able to fulfill their desire for parenthood. Let’s have a look at some of the celebrities who have opted for surrogacy.
1. Karan Johar
In February 2017, the filmmaker Karan Johar announced himself as a proud single parent to twins, Roohi and Yash, via surrogacy. The twins are a boy and a girl who was born in Masrani Hospital in Andheri West, Mumbai. He was quite happy while announcing this big news on social media, saying that his kids are now his topmost priority.
2. Tusshar Kapoor
Tusshar Kapoor is another proud single parent who was announced with a baby boy through surrogacy in 2016. He expressed how overwhelmed he was to have a baby on all social media platforms, Instagram, facebook and twitter. Tusshar was always looking to adopt a child, but on the suggestion of director Prakash Jha, he went in for surrogacy, he revealed. Even, Tusshar’s father was happy with his decision.
3. Farah Khan
The filmmaker-choreographer, Farah Khan got married to an editor-filmmaker, who was much younger than her. Due to which, Farah who was in her 40s, couldn’t get pregnant naturally. So, she decided to go for IVF to conceive and became a successful parent as she was blessed with triplets, Divya, Anya, and Czar Kunder on February 11, 2008.
4. Shreyas Talpade
Shreyas Talpade and his wife Deepti considered surrogacy and later suggested by the doctor as the best option, went for it. And after 14 years, they were happy to welcome their little baby girl on May 4, 2018. The couple were on a holiday in Hong Kong when their daughter arrived earlier than expected.
5. Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, after having two children Suhana and Aryan, went for a third child through surrogacy for some reason. SRK and his wife visited an IVF clinic in south Mumbai, after which they welcomed their third cute baby boy in May 2013 whom they named as Abram Khan. Sooner, Abram became a social media star.
6. Aamir Khan
By watching his movies only, one can see how much he loves social work and is a believer of his own self. The fans are not much shock after knowing that Aamir Khan and his wife, Kiran Rao went for surrogacy. Actually, Kiran Rao suffered a miscarriage before due to uterine complications, so they decided to go for surrogacy and were overwhelmed to have a lovely baby boy whom they named as Azad Rao Khan in 2011. The celeb couple became the face of surrogacy in India.
