Making this year a little better, Netflix India has announced 17 new originals, movies and series, to be added to the OTT platform. From thrillers, romantic comedies and lighthearted dramas to diverse collections of entertaining stories, the content will launch on Netflix, soon!
First in line, ‘Ludo’ by Anurag Basu takes us through four different Indian metro stories while showing the unavoidable jeopardies of life. The movie features Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh among others.
Next is Girish Malik’s ‘Torbaaz’, an Afghanistan-set action thriller that will see Sanjay Dutt and Nargis Fakri. A mystery thriller, ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ will show how an investigative officer works on a high profile case in which Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Shweta Tripathi play pivotal roles.
Getting a world premiere at 2019’s Busan International Film Festival, Konkona Sensharma and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare’ is based on how two Delhi women navigate the complexities of life. Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ will be released on 12 August. Kajol and Mithila Palkar to be seen in a dysfunctional family drama ‘Tribhanga – Tedhi Medhi Crazy’.
Sharing screen space for the first time, Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey have come together in a new age romance, ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’. An animated feature of Gitanjali Rao, ‘Bombay Rose’ chronicles the life of a flower seller who has to make the choice between protecting her family and allowing herself to fall in love.
Coming to Netflix original series, ‘Mismatched’ is a book adaption of Sandhya Menon’s ‘When Dimple Met Rishi’, starring Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf as the leads. The highly anticipated, Mira Nair’s adaptation of Vikram Seth’s acclaimed novel ‘A Suitable Boy’ will release on Netflix, features Ishaan Khatter and Tabu.
Netflix will also showcase ‘Kaali Khuli’, a horror story set in a village in Punjab and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Serious Men’, a drama based on Manu Joseph’s novel. Cop drama ‘Class of ‘83’ with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor-Anurag Kashyap starrer dark comedy ‘AK vs AK’ will also be available on the streaming platform, soon!
A contemporary drama ‘Bombay Begums’, starring Pooja Bhatt and dramedy ‘Bhaag Beanie Bhaag’ with Swara Bhasker, Dolly Singh and Varun Thakur have been announced as well. The story of fashion designer Masaba Gupta will be seen in the new original, ‘Masaba Masaba’.
