Actors, Tabu and Ishaan Khatter, along with newcomer Tanya Maniktala, will be seen in filmmaker Mira Nair’s screen adaptation of Vikram Seth classic ‘A Suitable Boy’.
The drama is produced by Lookout Point and penned by British screenwriter Andrew Davies. The shooting of the six part series, which will be distributed by BBC Studios, will begin shortly in India at a number of locations.
Set in 1951, the story revolves around a spirited university student Lata and how India is trying to become an independent nation by holding the first democratic general elections. It also portrays a sweeping tale of four families set in the post-Partition era, exploring India and its rich and varied culture.
Ishaan will be seen as Maan Kapoor who is determined to enjoy life to the fullest, no matter what the consequences are, much to the concern of his politician father, and gets infatuated with courtesan Saaeda Bai, played by Tabu.
The show is scheduled to premiere in June 2020.
