On late Sunday, a gloomy incident took place at Handwara in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, where several military personnel along with local policemen lost their lives in a 12-hour long counter-terrorism operation,
Paying tribute to the five security officers for their act of valour and sacrifice to the nation, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli took to his official social media account to share a note while sending his condolences to the families of deceased, that reads, “Those who don’t forget their duty in any circumstances are true heroes. Their sacrifices must not be forgotten. I bow my head to the army personnel & the policemen who lost their lives at Handwara and sincerely send my condolences to their families and wish them peace”.

In the rescue operation at Jammu and Kashmir’s district, the five-member team was able to pull out the civilians who were taken as hostages by the terrorists, while two terrorists were also killed in the operation.
Indian Army and PM Modi also shared their tributary notes on their official social media page and sent their condolences to the families of these brave hearts.
