While the nationwide lockdown is for combatting the COVID-19, the ill-effect of it apart from financial depression is a surge in domestic violence, which always has been prevailing in society for a long time.
To fight this grave issue and raise awareness about domestic violence, Bollywood and sports stars came together to voice it for those who are not able to fight and show them a way to stand against it.
In a small video clip with eminent celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Virat Kohli, Vidya Balan, Anushka Sharma and more, stars are urging people to come forward and report the issue on the emergency number 100. It is not only valid for the victims but also for the people who have witnessed the domestic violence happening on others or the survivors of it.
With a unanimous chant of “Let’s put a lockdown on Domestic violence”, the gripping video is made in association with the Government of Maharashtra, Maharashtra Police and Akshara Foundation, an NGO which works for Women’s rights.
