Appreciating the efforts of Indian citizens during the 21 days nationwide lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced its extension till 3 May, to check the spread of coronavirus.
The decision was made unanimously with the state governments and various stakeholders. For now onwards, people need to be more alert and cautious. The central government will impose more strict measures in the upcoming days. Till 20 April, the Centre will evaluate how different states are dealing with the pandemic. Along with it, Modi said that if states don’t let the hotspots increase then the government could allow few important activities to resume, but with certain conditions.
It was PM Modi’s third televised address to the nation in less than a month. He emphasized a few points before ending his speech. Asking people to take care of elderly at home, he has requested people to help the poor and needy with food as well as basic necessities. He emphasized on the fact that every Indian should download the Aarogya Setu app and tell others to do the same.
While staying indoors till 3 May, PM Modi has given few tips to stay safe like drink lots of water, have ‘kada’ everyday and wear a mask every time one steps out of the house. Giving an opportunity to the young scientists, he has requested the youth to come out and help them find a vaccine for COVID-19. Once again, Modi emphasized on the importance of social distancing and to not remove employees during such crises. Lastly, respect and honour for COVID- warriors that includes police and health professionals.
