Home is where the heart is…
Akin to this famous saying, Pink City by Sarika brings a piece of her home, the City of Joy – Kolkata to her latest collection Suramya. Suramya, which translates to beautiful, is a collection inspired by the enticing history of Kolkata and is a reflection of the Victoria Memorial gardens the city boasts of.
Suramya is infused with rich Indian craftsmanship in the form of delicate embroidery representing the flora of the gardens. Designed for the modern Indian woman who lives life to the fullest and makes her own rules, Suramya is a beautiful message to that confident woman.
Speaking about the collection
Sarika Kakrania, Founder
“A lot of thought has gone into creating this collection because I wanted to create a line, which bridesmaids can wear with ease at destination weddings. They are fuss free, lightweight, radiant and are perfect for the wedding season. The Pink City Woman has to feel confident without worrying about the weight of her ensemble, and that’s what I want to encourage through Suramya.”
The eclectic silhouettes from the collection, highlight Pink City’s signature peacock motif embroidery in golden zari. Suramya consists of a range of silhouettes including kurtas, draped sarees, shararas, capes featuring bandhani/ leheriya, an age-old technique Pink City is proud of promoting through the years.
A poem set in motion, Suramya features easy, flowing yet sophisticated fabrics such as silk, chanderi and organza in bright colours. Handcrafted with love, each silhouette is brought to life with intricate embroideries featuring coins, mirrors, sequins, thread work and pearls.
A colourful soiree of resplendent pieces of art designed to make a statement, Suramya is all about celebrating you in the City of Joy.
