Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the National Film Awards for the movies of 2019 were delayed. Through a press conference organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the winners are now announced.
The National Film Awards honours the best of the talents from across various Indian film industries including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi among others. While Kangana Ranaut won her fourth National Award, she received the ‘Best Actress’ award for ‘Manikarnika’ and ‘Panga’. Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput starrer ‘Chhichhore’ was awarded the ‘Best Hindi Film’ award.
Among other big wins, Manoj Bajpayee for ‘Bhonsle’ and Dhanush for ‘Asuran’ shared the ‘Best Actor’ award. Vijay Sethupati was named as the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for the Tamil movie ‘Super Deluxe’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ was given to Pallavi Joshi for ‘The Tashkent Files’.

- Special Jury Award:Oththa Seruppu Size 7 (Tamil)
- Best Music Direction:D. Imman for Viswasam (Tamil)
- Best Cinematography: Jallikattu (Malayalam)
- Best Female Playback Singer:Savani Ravindra for Bardo (Marathi)
- Best Male Playback Singer:B Praak for Kesari (Hindi)
