44 minutes, that’s all it took Serena Williams to win her 100th US Open match.
The American tennis star dominated the court against her Chinese opponent Wang Qiang. She won the quarter final match, 6-1, 6-0 against the world number 18.
Making her debut in 1998 in the US Open, she became the second player to reach the 100 mark for singles. At the moment, Chris Evert holds the record with 101 for this Grand Slam.
Next, the 23-time Grand Slam winner will play against Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, who ranks fifth in the semi-final, on 5 September.
Ranked as a world number eight, Williams is now eyeing to win her 24th Grand Slam singles title, tying the record with Margaret Smith Court.
