Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee is back with a bang with her new upcoming film Mardaani 2 which is the sequel of her 2014 film, Mardaani. Recently, a photo from the sets of her new film has gone viral screening Rani Mukherjee as a feisty cop in a white shirt and black pants.

The director of the 2014 film, Pradeep Sarkar has been replaced with Gopi Puthran in the sequel. Rani Mukherjee opens up in a statement, saying, “Mardaani is and will always remain very close to my heart. Right since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I am sure this announcement will come as a surprise to them. Gopi has written an extraordinary script that we all love and I cannot wait to start shooting the film.”
The film was based on child trafficking racket in which Rani Mukherjee played the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy, a gutsy police officer. However, a source revealed that in the sequel, Rani, “will be locked in a vicious battle with a 21-year old villain, who is absolutely merciless. There is going to be a smart cat-and-mouse game with a very clever villain.”
Mardaani 2 is expected to hit the theatres by the end of 2019.
