He’s handsome and talented with a buoyant charm and robust physique. He was adored by fans worldwide for essaying the rugged character of the Dothraki warlord, Khal Drogo on the HBO series, Games Of Thrones, and currently struts around with a spear as the King Of Atlantis, Aquaman, in DC movies. We are talking about Jason Momoa!
Aquaman, who used to be the butt of all DC jokes, all it took was Momoa’s charm, and now fans can’t help drool over the character! If you are already not obsessing, here are 5 reasons that will encourage you.
Hawaiian Heritage
From his half, Hawaiian heritage to his ridiculously appealing Greek God looks, Momoa is proud of his roots. For him, one of the main reasons to play the role of Aquaman is representing his culture.
‘There are not too many brown superheroes, so I’m really looking forward to representing the Polynesians, the natives. My family are some of the greatest watermen on Earth. I’m not, but I’m going to train with them. But it’s really an honour just being a Polynesian,’ he admitted.
Family Life
Momoa married actress Lisa Bonet in 2007 after dating for almost 12 years and is not shy about expressing his love for his wife. Talking about their first date, he gushed, ‘I literally turned around and I see her and she goes, ‘I’m Lisa’. I turned around to my friend and I…I had fireworks going off inside, man.’
Isn’t he adorable?
The couple has two children together, daughter Lola Iolani Momoa and son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.
Viking ways
To get those hard-rock abs, Momoa doesn’t just work out in the gym, he likes to take it outside. He enjoys rock and ice climbing, snowboarding, hiking, skateboarding, roller hockey and mountain biking. He has several unusual hobbies including indigenous dances and drawing with pastels.
While the world is going modern, Jason prefers the Viking lifestyle. He spends his time with kids, playing the guitar, and reading Japanese haikus to them and doesn’t own a television set.
Beliefs
Jason is a Buddhist and meditates daily. He spent a lot of time travelling the world when he was young, and his passion about the secrets of Buddhism began back when he visited Tibet.
Audition Tape
Getting into character for an audition is never easy, but Momoa’s audition to land the part of Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo in HBO’s Game Of Thrones will blow your mind. Sticking by his heritage, he performed haka, a traditional Maori dance and boy he nailed the part!
