Right before the hardcore practice begins for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics which starts from 23 July, the Indian Olympians along with their coaches and support staff underwent the mandatory COVID test.
The precautionary RT-PCR tests were conducted at the National Centre of Excellence in Patiala and Bengaluru, 313 tests in Patiala and 428 in Bengaluru. Out of the 741 tests taken, 26 people have tested COVID positive in Patiala and in Bengaluru, the count stands at four.
Good news among all this is that all the Indian athletes who will compete in the upcoming Olympics have tested negative. A sign of relief!
As soon as this news was out by the Sports Authority of India, for the safety of Olympic-bound athletes, both the campuses have been sanitized and precautionary measures are being taken to ensure complete safety of all.
