Whatever your décor – rearranging can make all the difference without spending a dime!
No matter how much you love your home or how old or new it is, there comes a time when you crave some change. You might be bored of outdated fixtures or paint color, or you might want to make your home appear trendier and more functional – the possibilities are endless.
There are ample ways to update your space, from easy DIY makeovers to new furniture arrangements. So, look no further if you are itching to give your house a quick makeover without spending a lot. We have compiled some of the most creative tips on revamping your home that involve nothing more than elbow grease – and perhaps a few helping hands to move things around.
1. Put an unused stool to work.
Don’t be nervous about getting creative with reusing and repurposing your existing furniture in style. For example, a small kitchen stool can easily make for a great side table in the bedroom to hold a nightlamp, pottery collection, or a stack of books. Paint it with a vibrant shade that goes well with your bedroom’s color and push it against the wall or use it as the focal point with a candle or other compact objects placed on the top.
2. Dress up your walls
Have a pile of pretty framed metallic art and fancy rustic mirrors hidden over the loft? Bring them out to create an attractive wall display in your living room. Try incorporating one large frame in the center with a few smaller one’s encircling the centerpiece to anchor the arrangement. Capture the wall behind your couch, the dining area, or any other convenient spot that allows you to display your favorite décor objects.
3. Shift your at-home workstation
Now that work from home has become normal, reconsider finding a new space for it. Say you have a set up closer to your bed in the bedroom. The same table can be shifted to the living room, probably closer to a window or on the balcony to enjoy working with a view. Just switching up the view can make a huge difference. Even better? Look around your house for things you may be able to use to deck up your tables, such as unique metallic or colorful figurines, platters, or candle holders. You can always clear away your work materials when you want to host guests and need an extra table to put on a food spread.
4. Reuse mismatched décor elements as creative displays
If your shoe rack, corner table, or living room showcase is lying empty and boring, think about how you can make the most of it while using existing décor items creatively. Grab a frame or two and add to them your favorite photographs. The former two can be covered with a plain table spread or old linens housed in the drawers and enhanced with metallic candle holders, mini flower vases, and abstract décor pieces like a butterfly showpiece, flower showpiece, or tree showpiece.
5. Restyle your bookshelf
Bookshelves are the most versatile pieces of furniture and home décor, offering display space and storage. Whether you have a traditional rustic shelf standing against the wall or a compact hanging shelf housing not more than 5-6 favorite reads – you can transform the way your bookcase appears. One of the best ways to restyle your shelves and turn them into professional-looking bookcases is by changing the color palette. Simply having your books organized by color helps them make a statement and stand out. Get a few miniature house plants and mask up the empty corners. Tip: you can even personalize these planters by painting them on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Not only these, but there are also many more ways to give your humble home a new look with items you already own. The proverb ‘old is gold’ rightfully extends to our home décor and holds power to bring an intimate touch to any space.
