The Congress stalwart and former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is no more. Mr Gogoi in the month of August was tested positive of COVID and was admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
Post his discharge the former CM was battling with COVID complications and on Monday he took his last breath after multiple organs failure.
On his sad demise, President of India, Ram Nath Kovind shared his prayers to the family and called his tenure in the CM office as “a period of epochal change in Assam.”
Extremely sad to know of the demise of Shri Tarun Gogoi, former Chief Minister of Assam. The country has lost a veteran leader with rich political and administrative experience. His long tenure in office was a period of epochal change in Assam.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared a grieving post on his official social media handle by writing, “Shri Tarun Gogoi Ji was a popular leader and a veteran administrator, who had years of political experience in Assam as well as the Centre. Anguished by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of sadness. Om Shanti.”
