The highest judicial body and the watcher of Indian Constitution, Supreme Court of India has taken a landmark decision to curb the patriarchal setup of the society.
Putting an end to the male domination in the heiring rights of the Hindu family property, the Supreme Court has passed the judgment that daughters will have equal inheritance rights as sons in the parental property, by birth.
The judgment was passed by the bench of three judges; Justices Arun Mishra, S Nazeer and M R Shah, who also asked the subordinate courts to clear out all the cases filed under Hindu Succession Act 1956, within the span of six months which were held due to the ongoing dispute on coparcenary.
The crucial verdict of Apex court was hailed by many and B’town actor Farhan Akhtar took to his social media handle praising the Supreme Court of India and it’s steps taken in order to blur the lines between genders.
In a landmark decision, Supreme Court ensures the unconditional right of a daughter to her parents property. It gives daughters inheritance right to the parental property by birth. A great day in the march for gender equality. 👍🏽👍🏽🏆
