Bollywood was on the receiving end of hatred and sharp scrutiny from the past few months. And now four Bollywood Industry associations and 34 eminent producers have filed a lawsuit against a range of popular media agencies and journalists for soiling the name of Indian Film Industry.
The suit has been filed before Delhi High Court against Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, Pradeep Bhandari, Times Now, Rahul Shivshankar and Navika Kumar for defaming the Industry and using deterogratry and irresponsible words.
The industry was under the spotlight over the drug probe which was linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. The producer guild has demanded to stop the media trials and withdraw the content with defamatory words.
Bollywood’s one of the most vocal actress Swara Bhasker shared the article of ‘Bar and Bench’ on her Twitter handle and wrote, “[Breaking] Bollywood hits back with a suit in Delhi High Court seeking to restrain Republic, Times Now from making derogatory remark” showing her support for the action taken by the film association.

I welcome this lawsuit. It will encourage responsible reporting by news TV channels, which is desperately the need of the hour. #BollywoodStrikesBack

I have said this repeatedly, Bollywood may have its issues, but they pale in comparison to what news media has become. That’s where the real cleaning needs to happen. #CleanupNewsMedia #BollywoodStrikesBack
