Home is regarded as the safest place on earth and in the present-day situation it indeed is but not for everyone. As the lockdown across the country is still ongoing, the number of domestic violence cases have shot up, making us all question ‘Is home actually a safe abode?’.
This social evil has been a subject of worry for a very long time but somehow we all fail to address it and hence, it is still prevailing in an upbeat society.
Earlier, the Cine stars have come together for #LockdownOnDomesticViolence in association with the Government of Maharashtra, Maharashtra Police and Akshara Foundation and created a gripping video to raise awareness among the people.
Now, Bollywood is asking for our help on behalf of Sneha Mumbai, an NGO which has been constantly fighting against domestic violence for the past 20 years.
Actress Radhika Apte took to her social media handle sharing a picture with ‘I am Lalita’ emboldened on it and penned down a long note urging her fans and followers to lend their voices to those who can’t stand up for themselves. Nominating Bhumi Pednekar, Rajkummar Rao and Anurag Kashyap, she wrote, “You can choose to lend your voice by clicking on @snehamumbai_official, pick a name from their page, post your image with the name you’ve picked, and donate via the link in the bio.
I nominate @bhumipednekar @rajkummar_rao and @anuragkashyap10 to lend their voices and help out too.”
In the fight against this heinous social evil, many other stars too shared a post on their social media handle calling themselves with different names and pitched in for raising the fund Sneha Mumbai needs.
