As the lockdown 4.0 has been announced by the Central Government, extending the present-day guidelines with more relaxation till 31 May, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released a statement acknowledging the Ministry of Home Affairs.
As per the new guidelines, the Government has allowed opening the sports complexes for bringing back the athletes on the track and also given permission for holding the sporting events behind closed doors.
In the statement released by the board, BCCI has taken the decision to wait and formulate a plan before rushing into organizing training camps for its contracted players.
Calling out the health of its staff and players of paramount importance, the statement reads, “Taking into the account the restrictions on air travel and movement of people till May 31, the BCCI will wait further before organizing a skill-based training camp for its contracted players. The Board reiterates that the safety and well-being of its athletes and support staff is paramount and will not rush into any decision that can hamper or jeopardize India’s efforts in containing the spread of the virus.”
