With a good bowling, batting, luck and character shown by the Bangladesh team, they registered their first ever T20 win against India on their home soil in the smog hit contest at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India was put to bat first, scoring 148 runs in 20 overs by playing in an overly cautious manner. Bangladesh sealed the deal by winning the match with seven wickets, credits to Mushfiqur Rahim’s outstanding 60 and Soumya Sarkar’s critical partnership with him.
India’s loss was the bizarre Decision Review System (DRS) decisions taken by Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant in the tenth over bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal. Along with it, it was Krunal Pandya’s dropped catch and Khaleel’s expensive over that the match fell directly into the hands of Bangladesh without Indian team putting up a strong fight.
Named as the next Yuvraj Singh, Mumbai’s Shivam Dube made his T20 debut in the Delhi T20 match. The all-rounder was handed his Indian cap at the start of the game.
With a rough game for the Indian side, Rohit Sharma created history once again. He surpassed Virat Kohli to become the highest run getter with 2452 runs in Twenty20 International cricket. Also, the opener became the most capped Indian player with 99 T20, beating Dhoni’s tally of 98 T20.
