The film shows Anand’s motivating journey, how he rises from the rubble to achieve his dreams. It highlights the message that education is truly a privilege for the ones who have access to resources. The real hunger is better education and a better life and if given a chance the underprivileged will shine brighter. Many moments in the movie will tear you, especially the class scenes.
But in the second half, the run-time feels too dragged and the plot becomes too dramatic. However, the cinematography and dialogues touch a chord making one want to watch the movie. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the movie could be shown in a better perspective especially while portraying saddened emotions, the audience could connect in a better way.
Hrithik Roshan pulls off a solid performance essaying Anand Kumar, capturing his character’s sincerity and determination very well. While his look isn’t convincing, he makes it up with his acting and performance. Nandish Singh is earnest and well-casted as Anand’s brother. Mrunal Thakur is effective and is like a breath of fresh air in her limited screen time. Pankaj Tripathi as the unscrupulous politician is brilliant and Aditya Srivastava matches the villainy of his character. Overall, the performances elevate the film.
