Sangeeta Boochra has collaborated with Deme Love to create a jewellery line that redefines the modern-day accessory
After making the traditional aesthetic more accessible, the 125-year-old heritage jewellery brand Sangeeta Boochra has launched Charbagh, a capsule collection, in collaboration with the quintessential designer Gabriella Demetriades.
Borrowing from the Indo-Persian quadrilateral garden, the minimalistic yet versatile jewellery line marks a foray by the creative houses into a space that makes way for the unique, eclectic, ambitious and assertive woman.
“The idea for this collection was to step out of our comfort zones and curate something that transcends the differentiations that something as holistic as jewellery has been given. So, this line holds something for every silhouette out there.”, said Abhineet Boochra.
Most pieces have moissanite insets which lend it the definition of holding something real while giving it the gravitas to bring an outfit together.
Taking a page from Deme Love’s design language, the jewellery in this collection goes above and beyond being just one thing. After months of cohesive work and experimentation, it has taken the shape of accessories that feel at home equally over a traditional ensemble orIndo-western attire.
The end result speaks for itself with a collection that caters to a wide range of audiences that span across different generations.
Riteek Boochra says, “This collaboration was seeded from the concept of minimalism and modernity that go hand in hand today. While the brand has been working with heritage jewels for over a century now, what Gabriella brought to the table was a structured outlook that mirrored her work in apparel. This indeed laid the foundation for Charbagh that you can now seeas a symbol of minimalistic extravagance from our houses.”
Looking at the line-up, the work features rings, earrings and necklaces, drawing inspiration from a layered centre, much like the collection’s name. The centre pieces find their way out to clean lines, artistic hangings, circular formations and cleverly synced assembly, creating a distinctly distinguishable aura that complements a varied colour palette.
The jewellery rightly features shades of gold and silver, extending from Sangeeta Boochra Jaipur’s original work in the field. Built from the point of view of today’s women, the designs reflect the art of bringing tradition and modernity together while making way for new values as the times change.
