The people of South Indian states believe that on this day Lord Brahma created the universe and so he writes everyone’s fate on this day. That is why Ugadi is celebrated by Hindus to concede the efforts of Brahma.

On the day of Ugadi, earth completes one full rotation around the sun. That is why the sunrise on this day marks the beginning of the year. Also, the Northern hemisphere receives the maximum amount of solar energy because of the position of the axis of the earth.
