Kochi based Watasale is introducing the next generation shopping experience for its customers, using the ‘Just walk out shopping technology’ for the first time in India.
They aim to do away with the inconveniences of shopping in a brick and mortar store. This could be waiting a long time to get the items billed, fumbling with your wallet to take out the cash or card while facing a cold stare from the person right behind you, making the payment, to finally getting your bills cross-checked by a security personnel at the exit point.
Located at the Gold Souk Mall, this high tech autonomous store offers to provide a hands-on experience at a shop where there are no cashiers or billing counters. This Kochi-based startup is built on the lines of Amazon Go, the cashier-less store launched by Amazon. They claim this venture to be the Indian competitor of Amazon Go.
The store leverages innovative technologies like Artificial Intelligence, computer vision, deep learning, and sensor fusion to create an automated, cashier-less, cashless, scanning free store. Though there is computer vision, there is no facial recognition, nor will your mobiles be tracked, so there is no concern of loss of privacy here.
Now, if you are interested in shopping at Watasale, first download the Watasale App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Run the app as you enter the store, scan the QR code at the gates to enter, shop for the items you want and just walk out. It is as easy as that. Now if you wish to place back a product, the price will be subtracted from the bill. The final bill amount will be automatically deducted from your account linked to the app, while you walk away.
Subhash S, CEO of Watasale has mentioned that Watasale plans to expand to Delhi and Bangalore in the coming months.
