The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has presented their highest honour, Legion of Merit to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in recognition of his leadership and vision that accelerated India’s emergence as a global power and elevated the strategic partnership between the two countries to address global challenges.
On behalf of PM Modi, India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu accepted the award from the US National Security Advisor, Robert O’Brien at the White House. On Twitter, a picture along with this big news was announced. See:

Along with Modi, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison for promoting collective security and the former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe for having a vision for a free, open Indo-Pacific were also conferred with the Legion of Merit, received by their respective ambassadors in Washington DC.
PM Modi has previously also been presented with the highest honours of other countries. In 2016, he was awarded the Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud by Saudi Arabia and the State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan. He received the Grand Collar of the State of Palestine Award in 2018. Coming to 2019, Modi was honored with Order of Zayed Award by UAE, Order of St Andrew by Russia and Order of the Distinguished Rule of Nishan Izzuddin by Maldives.
