The Torch Flame is all set to begin its journey!
With the date for the much-awaited Tokyo Olympics coming closer, the Olympics Torch Relay is also ready to start its journey from Fukushima on 25 March 2021 and then move around 47 prefectures across Japan in 121 days.
In 2021, the Great East Japan Earthquake will mark 10 years and the Olympic Torch Relay will highlight the recovery of the worst affected areas, showcasing the concept of ‘hope lights our way’. In the wake of the global pandemic, the torch flame will also symbolize that there is light at the end of the dark tunnel, standing as a symbol of resilience, unity and solidarity of humanity.
The route and schedule for the Olympics Torch Relay will remain unchanged but the route and celebration venues will be reviewed continuously due to COVID-19. Amidst the pandemic, the postponement of the Tokyo Games to 23 July 2021 has caused major logistical problems and extra expense for organizers so now small vehicle convoys will be used with a simpler launch event.
The #Tokyo2020 Olympic Torch Relay will now commence on March 25, 2021 and travel for 1⃣2⃣1⃣ days across Japan🗾
