All good things must come to an end. And when it comes to the career of Bryan Brothers at Melbourne Park, it is nothing short of extraordinary!
The 41 year-old identical twins bid farewell to Australian Open as they retire at the end of this year. This is the first leg of the pair’s farewell tour as they prepare for life after tennis.
The men’s doubles pair lost to Filip Polasek and Ivan Dodig in straight sets, 6-3 6-4 at the Grand Slam’s third round. Just playing in the Australian Open, the Bryan Brothers have won six titles and marked 77 victories, a record in itself!
Speaking on court after their loss, Mike and Bob hinted they’d be back at Melbourne Park in the future.
The American twins made their debut in professional tennis in 1995 and have been unstoppable since. As a team, this was their 85 Grand Slam tournament. They own 16 Grand Slam Doubles titles and have reached 30 finals at the majors. Being the most successful doubles pair of all time, the Bryans Brothers are a legacy!
We’ll miss you on court, Bryan Brothers!
