FIFA Award night came to an end with the announcement of the most awaited winner list in various categories. The coveted list of all the nominees was released a few months back and the voting link was live till 19 August.
Walking through the iconic green carpet of the FIFA Award ceremony at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, we saw all the football players dressed in their best under one roof waiting for the announcement of one of the most prestigious awards.

Argentina and Barcelona star striker, Lionel Messi surpassed Virgil Van Dijk and his most renowned rival Cristiano Ronaldo to receive the ‘Best FIFA Men’s Player 2019’. This was the sixth time that the Barcelona forward player has received the honour.

While in Women’s category, the outspoken, United States Women’s Team Captain, Meghan Rapinoe’s charm was indisputable. The pink-haired footballer who was also honoured with the ‘Golden Boot’ and ‘Golden Ball’ earlier, passed her teammate Alex Morgan and Lucy Bronze to become the ‘Best FIFA Women’s Player 2019’.

Sari van Veenendaal, the goalkeeper and captain of the Dutch team, won the ‘Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper’ award while in men’s category Alisson Becker of Brazil was appreciated for his tackling moves and was honoured with the ‘Best Men’s Goalkeeper’ award.

Meanwhile, the United States National Women’s team’s magic was all over the event and their coach Jill Ellis received the ‘Best FIFA Women’s Coach’ for preparing the team for an epic win in France. Under the guidance of Jill, United States Women’s team has won the title of the World Champion twice in the past five years. Jurgen Klopp won the ‘Best Coach’ awards in the men’s category.
