Top Indian shuttler, PV Sindhu made an impressive start to the Indonesia Open 2019 and has progressed to the quarterfinals of this Super 100 Tournament.
Yesterday, 5th seed Sindhu had to work hard after facing challenge from world no. 13 Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark in the women’s singles second round. Sindhu did not lose her confidence and defeated her lower-ranked opponent in a 62 minutes match, scoring 21-14, 17-21, 21-11, to secure a quarter-final berth. Now, she will face Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the last-eight round today.
In other news, Bhavna Tokekar, aged 47 and the mother of two teenagers, bagged four gold medals in powerlifting at the Open Asian championships at Chelyabinsk, Russia. She was introduced to weight training six years ago to reduce the side effects of her skin inflammation ailment.
Tokekar has not only made her family proud but the entire nation is also proud of her achievement.
