Last year, it was made official that Shraddha Kapoor will be playing the role of the ace Indian badminton player, Saina Nehwal in the sports star’s biopic. Post the announcement the actor underwent rigorous training in the sport, met Saina for personal grooming and tips and she even paid a visit to Saina’s parents at their residence in Hyderabad the same year. But within a few months of shooting, she fell ill and was diagnosed with dengue.

Earlier, a source quoted, ‘Shraddha started feeling unwell a few days into the schedule. She stopped shooting on September 27 (2018) after a check-up revealed that she has dengue. She is expected to return to the film’s set in a couple of days. Meanwhile, Amole continues to shoot portions featuring the child actor who portrays the younger Saina, and other supporting artists.’
After recovering from her illness Shraddha resumed with the shooting but then opted out of the film. Soon after the actress called it quits, the makers roped in Parineeti Chopra for the role. T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar welcomed her on board and she will start her badminton training soon. The decision to replace Shraddha with Parineeti was mutual. Excited Pari took to Twitter to express her delight.
