After a long wait, finally, the trailer of Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Made in China’ is out. The movie is about a Gujarati businessman Raghu played by Rajkummar Rao who is trying to take his journey forward to become the biggest entrepreneur in the country.
The two minutes thirty-five-second trailer opens with the advice of Paresh Rawal to Raghu to find the key to the customers’ satisfaction; meanwhile also getting his profit. As the story develops we see Rajkummar off to China in an attempt to flourish his business where he meets people of some Chinese firm who are trying to sell out their ‘Chinese viagra’, to meet all the sex-related issues in India.
Accepting their offer, Rajkummar returns to India and finds perfect leverage for his business Dr Vardhi, a sexologist, played by Boman Irani and soon his business takes off.
The trailer looks quirky and funny addressing a topic which is a huge taboo in India. Acting-wise the movie looks promising with Rajkummar’s extraordinary performance. With a good star cast of several veteran actors, the movie openly discusses an issue which is usually overlooked. Mouni Roy looks sizzling in her Roukmani avatar as the wife of Raghu. What we wanted was to see more acting in the trailer rather than she being busy in enticing her husband.
The trailer shows an open approach to sex-related issues, taking the hold of which Raghu aims to become a successful entrepreneur. While in reality, we don’t see anyone openly discussing it or prioritizing a woman’s need over themselves. Along with it, the advertisements for curing the dysfunctions are still painted in deserted places which basically no one cares about.
We also found ourselves confused with whether the movie is focused on the journey of an entrepreneur or it wants to talk about the taboos around sex. If it’s the latter, then we are waiting for the whole movie with our fingers crossed.
The trailer shows a good approach to depicting a middle-class Gujarati Businessman with a dream. If through the movie, filmmakers are trying to normalise the sex-related issues then yes we give a thumbs up to that.
The National Award winner Mikhil Musale directorial ‘Made in China’ is set to release this Diwali with a promise to tickle your funnybones.
