In a statement, Samsung has announced the launch of ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor with 108 megapixels, in partnership with Xiaomi, making it the first global company to do so.
The South Korean Company is expanding the 0.8-micron image sensor, making the resolution equivalent to a high-end DSLR camera. The mobile sensor will adopt a large 1/1.33-inch size and support Tetracell technology to emulate big megapixel sensors.
It will produce four 27-megapixel images via its sensor, combining them into one and to prevent the sensor from rendering a heavy image. Also, the Smart ISO technology will be used depending on the lighting conditions or environment. This technology will switch automatically to reduce noise and get clear pictures.
In terms of video recording, one can shoot 6K (6016×3384) at 30 fps (frames per second) using the HMX camera. Later this month, the mass production for this 108 megapixel camera sensor will begin.
