World’s longest serving Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa, who was holding the supreme office of Bahrain since 1971 took his last breath at the age of 84.
Though the Prince had been a controversial figure, his key role in changing the country’s political and economical setup in the past three decades is revolutionary, putting Bahrain on the world map.
On his demise due to prolonged illness, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi paid his tribute to Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa and sent extended his prayers to the royal family by writing, “My heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. In this moment of grief, our thoughts and prayers are with HM the King of Bahrain, the royal family and the people of Bahrain.”

Former President of Indian National Congress, Rahul Gandhi also expressed his grief on the sad news and sent his condolences to Bahrain.
