Jeff Bezos’s visit to India has brought us a set of new Amazon Prime original series. Announcing 14 shows for the streaming platform, here’s a sneak peek into what’s in store for 2020:
With the 2020 slate out, the next season of fan favourites and popular shows like ‘Mirzapur’, ‘Inside Edge’, ‘Four More Shots Please’ and ‘The Family Man, is coming for you. A slew of brand new series will make their way to the platform, like ‘The Last Hour’, ‘Bandish Bandits’, ‘Dilli’, ‘Gormint’, ‘Sons of Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers’ and ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’.
Amazon Prime has managed to collaborate with top Indian Directors. To name a few, Zoya Akhtar, Nikkhil Advani, Ali Abbas Zafar, Kabir Khan and Ritesh Sidhwani, among others.
Coming to the shows, in the new season of ‘Four More Shots Please’, the girls will continue their adventures but in Turkey and Mumbai as well. Despite having a poor review, ‘Inside Edge’ will return for a third season and Manoj Bajpayee’s maiden digital show, ‘The Family Man’ is backed with a second season.
Kabir Khan enters Amazon Prime with ‘The Forgotten Armey’. The long awaited Indian original features Sunny Kaushal and newcomer Sharvari in lead roles. Based on true events, it will show the journey of men and women who fought for the country’s independence under the Indian National Army.
A romantic musical series, Anand Tiwari’s ‘Bandish Bandits’ stars Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Ritwik Bhowmik, and Shreya Singh Chaudhry. It will follow the life of two polar opposite people who come from different worlds but set out together on a journey of self-discovery.
While, ‘Sons of Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers’ will be presented as a documentary series about kabbadi. In ‘Breathe’ season two, Abhishek Bachchan will make his digital debut and Amit Sadh will reprise his role.
Two new additions include political dramas, ‘Dili’ and ‘Gormint’. Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Dili’ will see Dimple Kapadia along with Saif Ali Khan, Sunil Grover and Sarah Jane Dias. Veteran actor Amol Palekar will also make his digital debut but with ‘Gormint’. This new original will star Manav Kaul, Shikha Talsania and Girish Kulkarni as well.
‘The Last Hour’ is a crime thriller with a supernatural twist that is set in a small picturesque hill station in the Himalayas that stars Sanjay Kapoor and Raima Sen. A series about the 2008 Mumbai attacks from director Nikkhil Advani, will feature Konkana Sen Sharma in a new original called ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’.
